MAY 25 In this post, Salon explains Bobby Jindal's "strategy" in trying to keep his "zombie presidential campaign" alive. He's not the only guy destined for the also-ran column who keeps desperately grasping, Salon says, but he is one of the most pathetic. Once again, the national media has trouble reconciling how good Jindal looks on paper with what a massive disappointment he has been in reality.

PIC TO THE WORLD: READ MITCH'S ORDER, NOT BOBBY'S
MAY 26 This editorial in the Picayune draws in clear lines the problems created for New Orleans by Bobby Jindal's self-serving, (at least he hopes it will be) ham-fisted executive order about gay marriage. IBM and Dow have both said they're against it, because it will interfere with their ability to attract talent - both gay folk and modern, educated folk who think discrimination is wrong. But it also will have a devastating effect on tourism, the Pic opinies, and so the paper hopes everyone will read Mitch Landrieu's executive order, because that one is representative of "who we are."

MAY 26 Slate magazine comments here upon the extremely large number of people who want to be the GOP nominee for President. None of them but Bush, Walker and Rubio have a snowball's chance, Slate opines. So why are all these clowns trying to pack into that little car? Same reason that creepy little guy tries his lines on the pretty girl at the bar - he might get lucky.

MAY 26 The New York Times reports here what most of us in Louisiana have known for - oh, let's see - almost 10 years. That is, that the damage caused to NOLA following Katrina was related to levee failure, not the storm per se, and that the agency in charge, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, should take responsibility. Interesting.
