The Air Force Reserve sent another hurricane hunter aircraft into the a tropical disturbance in the south-central Gulf of Mexico Monday morning as forecasters try to get a better picture of what the disturbance may become as it moves northwest into the Gulf.
The National Hurricane Center in Florida tells nola.com that there’s a high chance the disturbance will become a tropical depression or tropical storm by Tuesday. The Times-Picayune’s website also reports that even if a tropical storm doesn’t form, “tropical weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and flooding, could reach the middle and upper Texas and western Louisiana coastlines late Monday or early Tuesday.”
