In a letter to his staff, Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Steven Grissom announced that Mandi Mitchell has been promoted to assistant secretary.
Mitchell, a former lobbyist who was one of ABiz’s Women Who Mean Business honorees in 2012, the year she joined LED as director of governmental affairs, most recently was director of governmental affairs and federal programs, a post she ascended to earlier this year. Grissom said in the letter that role involved the expanded responsibilities of congressional affairs and LED efforts related to ports, transportation and coastal restoration.

“Mandi brings a wealth of experience to the Assistant Secretary position, including her work at LED and her previous professional experience in governmental affairs, community relations, business development, economic development, and management as both an independent business owner and a regional manager at AT&T Louisiana (formerly Bellsouth Telecommunications),” Grissom wrote. “Mandi is highly regarded as a state and community leader as evidenced by numerous awards and recognition she has received for her professional accomplishments and community service efforts.”

Mitchell retains her previous responsibilities and is now helping guide LED’s business intelligence, community competitiveness, small business services, and statewide economic competitiveness and innovation initiatives, Grissom noted.

Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from UNO.
