Perficient heading Downtown?

Multiple sources say the tech firm is eyeing the old Jefferson Street Market spot.

Tech company Perficient has set its sights on the old Jefferson Street Market building.

It’s clearly not a done deal, but tech firm Perficient, which last year announced its plans to expand to Lafayette, is negotiating to take over the old Jefferson Street Market Downtown, the building that most recently housed the library on a temporary basis.

Multiple sources confirm to ABiz that the site is under strong consideration, and The Advocate reports Friday that the Missouri-based company may have shown its hand in documents filed with the City-Parish Council. Perficient could bring as many as 200 jobs to the 538 Jefferson St. building.

The Advocate reports that the council is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a measure to lease the top two floors of the city-owned parking garage on Vermilion Street for use as employee parking for Perficient should the Downtown deal come to fruition:

The proposal submitted to the council states Perficient “has agreed in principle” to the Jefferson Street site.

“It would be a really big win for Downtown,” Public Works Director Kevin Blanchard told The Advocate. “They are interested and want to establish their permanent presence Downtown but need a parking solution.” ...

The parking deal for Perficient would allow the company to lease 200 spaces on the top two floors of the Vermilion Street parking garage for $2,000 a month, a rate Blanchard said was calculated using standard group rate discounts offered for downtown parking.
