JUL 27 Blogger Bob Mann articulates what many are thinking as our community buries two bright and beautiful women who died last week in the Grand Theater shooting. Bobby Jindal responded quickly, as he did with the last mass shooting, but wants us to focus on our grief and sorrow - not on doing anything that will prevent that grief and sorrow from arising again.

DREHER: THAT GROUP HAS NO IDEA WHO THEY'RE DEALING WITH
JUL 27 Blogger Rod Dreher writes here about the group (that ain't getting no free pub in this column) that has said it will picket the funerals of the two women we lost in the shooting last week. When he heard about it, he said they may have overstepped their luck this time. No kidding.

IT CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE, AND WE ALL KNOW THAT
JUL 27 Blogger Ian McGibboney wrote this post as soon as he heard about last week's shooting, thinking about how close this particular mass shooting struck to his home. He was shocked, but in the end, he acknowledges that this can happen - and does happen - anywhere in the country, because of our society's combination of "untreated mental illness" and access to "instant intruments of death." ADVOCATE: JINDAL HAS TO WALK A FINE LINE
JUL 27 Here's an interesting post by Gregory Roberts in the Advocate about Bobby Jindal's political futures vis-a-vis the Grand Theater shooting. For now, he's saying "it's not the time" to talk about gun control, or providing decent mental health treatment options. He's got to be careful about how he handles this, because if he seems to be trying to make political hay out of this situation it's going to backfire, big time, the pundits opine.

Monday's Blogs from the Bog!
Bobby Jindal doesn't want to talk about gun control or mental health, he just wants to pray, Mann says. Also today, Gambit on the Dems and Dreher on those hateful people with the signs.
