Walk-On's, Happy's host fundraiser for shooting victims

Local businesses will donate 100 percent of entire day of gross sales on Monday, Aug. 3., to United Way fund.

Sister concepts Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar and Happy's Irish Pub are teaming up to help support the families of the victims of last week's tragic shootings at the Grand Theatre.

On Monday, Aug. 3, Walk-On's and Happy's Lafayette locations will donate 100 percent of gross sales to the fund established by the United Way of Acadiana to support the families of the victims in the July 23 shootings.

"All of us in the Walk-On's family are sickened and distraught over the pure evil that visited our community last week," said Brandon Landry, co-owner of Walk-On's Enterprises, which owns the Walk-On's and Happy's Irish Pub concepts, in a prepared release. "There's nothing any of us can do to make things right, but we want to do what we can to assist with the healing and recovery process. We hope people in and around Lafayette will come to Walk-On's or Happy's on Monday and seek solace in our collective grief and show the families of the victims that we're here for them. We'll donate every penny we take in to the fund."

Several Walk-On's Enterprises vendors, including Reinhart, Coca-Cola, A La Carte and Capitol City Produce, are donating products to assist with the fundraiser.

Walk-On's sports bar is located at 2336 Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette and is open from 11 a.m. to Midnight daily. Happy's Irish Pub is located at 1315 Camellia Blvd. and is open from 3 p.m. - 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and closed Sunday.
