WHY WOULD ANYBODY SPEND THIS MONEY FOR THIS JOB?
AUG 12 LaPolitics' Jeremy Harper takes a look at spending (so far) in the Louisiana governor's race, to see if this is the most expensive contest for that post. Whether that's true or not - take a look at the figures here. Why on earth would anybody raise/spend/donate this level of coin to take over the mess that Bobby Jindal is leaving? Makes you wonder, don't it?

CLANCY: IT'S FINALLY GETTING HOT!
AUG 12 Columnist Clancy DuBos writes about the governor's race in this post, happy that it's finally heating up. BR FOOD BLOGGER IN FINALS OF FOOD NETWORK STAR
AUG 12 Baton Rouge food blogger Jay Ducote made the finals easily in Sunday night's episode of Food Network Star, the Advocate reports here. AUG 12 Only in Your State posts another of those click-bait lists here, and this one purports to be the 10 things you will find in every Louisiana home. Some of this stuff is a no-brainer (what - people in Minnesota don't have food or drinks in their house?) and others kind of iffy (feathers? Hah?) but it's entertaining nonetheless.
Wednesday's Blogs from the Bog!
Jeremy Harper writes about the millions raised by guys who want to be governor. Millions. Really? Also, Aswell connects some stinky dots for us, and Jay Ducote is in the finale!
