Les Vues Film Series with Shane K. Bernard

The host for this month’s Les Vues Film Series is Shane K. Bernard, historian and curator for the McIlhenny Company, who will be showing three short films Monday night at Vermilionville.

The Les Vues Free Film Series will be held Monday evening with Shane K. Bernard, historian and curator for the McIlhenny Company - maker of Tabasco brand products since 1868 - and Avery Island, Inc. on Avery Island, Louisiana. Bernard will be showing three short films, which will total approximately 30 minutes, about the Avery Island area including "Cajuns of the Teche," "The Snow Egret and Its Extermination," and "Sky Game."

Bernard will also be hosting a Tabasco-themed potluck, so guests are encouraged to bring their favorite dish using Tabasco as an ingredient to share.

The Les Vues Film Series is curated by filmmakers and enthusiasts, mostly from around the state. The films will range from features, documentaries, student film, shorts, animation, etc. that focus on the themes surrounding various aspects of culture. Following the screenings will be an open discussion between the audience and the curator about the themes of the movie and how they apply to that culture as well as our own.

The Les Vues Film Series begins at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, in the Performance Center at Vermilionville, located at 300 Fisher Road in Lafayette. Admission to the series is free, but a suggested $5 donation will go toward the cost of screening and curating costs. For more information, visit Vermilionville.org.
