ASWELL EXAMINES INSURANCE CONTRIBUTIONS
SEP 2 Blogger Tom Aswell takes a look at the contributions so far in the race for Insurance Commissioner. Basically it is breaking down to a guy from north Louisiana who won't take money from insurance companies and the current commissioner, who will. And in a big way, too!

SHTICK ON ELBERT AND THE GIANT N-WORD
SEP 2 The Red Shtick provides us with this commentary upon Elbert Guillory and his latest campaign "ad," (apparently airing only on YouTube) in which he drops the n-bomb numerous times, as well as a bunch of other antiquated ethnic slurs. That's a great platform for the guy who wants to oversee our state's tourism efforts, Shtick opines - and that sure ain't wrong.

DREHER ON THAT ATTENTION ADDICT IN KENTUCKY
SEP 2 Blogger Rod Dreher writes here about Kim Davis, that county clerk over in Kentucky who thinks that hers are the only Constitutional rights that exist. The lady (who is reportedly on her fourth marriage) says she's so worried about what she thinks the Almighty thinks about gay folk that she can't do her job. Dreher has an alternative that makes sense - if you think that someone who can't do their job should continue to be on the public dole.

DESHOTELS LOOKS AT A LOCAL 'PREDATORY RIP-OFF'
SEP 2 Blogger Mike Deshotels examines the local charter school which apparently has some problems with its operations. In particular, Deshotels says, this charter is not living up to its commitments regarding a balanced student body.

CB: DUCT TAPE AIN'T GONNA DO IT
SEP 2 Blogger CB Forgotston tells us about he latest "crater" that has "opened up" in the state budget. Wow - these "unexpected" holes open up so frequently nowadays one might jump to the conclusion that the budget is a bunch of b.s. held together by duct tape and the tattered, futile dreams of an inept politician who wasted his greatest opportunity to earn the job of President to pander to a narrow slice of America that can't get him elected - even if they did like him. Which they don't.

SEP 2 Here's an interesting story on DIG Baton Rouge about a Chalmette man who lost just about everything in Katrina - including his beloved 1971 Stingray. Since then, he's been rebuilding the car, and his life, a piece at a time. He's about halfway done. With the car.
Wednesday's Blogs from the Bog!
Aswell on insurance contributions, CB on budget "craters," and Deshotels on "predatory rip-offs." Doesn't that sound like fun?
