The first Downtown Alive! concert of the fall season takes place this Friday, Sept. 11 at Parc Sans Souci and organizers are asking for help to commemorate the anniversary of the attack on our nation at the 9/11 Memorial located at the corner of Parc Sans Souci near the stage in Downtown Lafayette.

Sweet Cecilia will start off the night with a unique rendition of the Star Spangled Banner before being joined by Eric Adcock and Steve Riley. And in an extra special twist, DTA! and the Downtown Restaurant and Bar Association are teaming up to offer theme nights at DTA! and in Downtown bars and restaurants afterwards. Guests are also encouraged to help support our heroes by wearing your most patriotic outfit.

Steve Riley is a Grammy Award winning artist from Mamou, Louisiana that is bound to get any crowd dancing with his Cajun soul and sound. Steve is a master with the accordion and is always ready to prove he is the best around.

Sweet Cecilia is a Louisiana Roots trio that has music in their blood. The three consist of two daughters and a niece of late Grammy nominee Al Bernard, and the passion these girls have comes through clearly in their music.

Eric Adcock can be seen playing piano with Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars, but will be joining Sweet Cecilia and Steve Riley for the first DTA! of the season. Music has been a part of Eric’s life since he started taking piano lessons at age five and he first started teaming up with Roddie Romero as teenagers and they’ve been together ever since.

Downtown Alive! concerts are free. Concession sales, which help fund the series, begin at 5:30 p.m. with music from 6-8:30 p.m. Guests are asked to leave ice chests and pets at home. For more information on the DTA! fall season, visit DowntownLafayette.org.
