We’re not sure if chicken wings are on the ever-dwindling list of things that don’t cause cancer, and we’re too scared to look it up. They may not have been part of the fun-gestapo’s — the global medical community — most recent heartbreaker of a press release regarding bacon and its risk to your health, and frankly we’d prefer to leave it at that. On that note, join us in blissful ignorance as we welcome Hurricane Grill & Wings to the Lafayette dining scene. The growing chain of saucy wing fryers held its grand opening on Saturday Oct. 24 at its newest location, and Louisiana’s first, at 3546 Ambassador Caffery Parkway between Rooms-to-Go and Moe's Southwest Grill.
The opening featured a performance by Ray Boudreaux, and a portion of the grand opening sales went to finding permanent shelter from the storm for pets rescued by Cajun Paws Rescue.
Lafayette location franchisee Baylen Morse of Carencro touts the Florida-based restaurant chain’s combination of family fun, tropical vibe and storm terminology as a winning combo for folks looking for a game-day get-down or a basket of wings bespoke with your favorite sauce.
It's got wing classics like buffalo sauce at five different Scoville levels and company trademarks like the Coco Loco wings, hot coconut with habanero and lime, or the Cyclone, a sweet and spicy chili sauce. All told they’ve got 35 flavors that vary in spice level from “calm seas” to “evacuation route.”
Not feeling the nautically spicy hot wings? They’ve got you covered with off the grill favorites like burgers, sandwiches, steaks and salads — all with or without bacon, phewf. The kitchen is open till midnight seven days a week, so you can get your wing fix after hours.
