Pho’ing Pho Tastic news

by Christiaan Mader

Every day I've walked past this place under construction, and have dreamed of what will become. I have seen the future. And it is glorious.

Pho Tastic's brand new store front. It's come a long way since Athena.

It may be a little later than expected, but Downtown's first noodle house is now set for imminent arrival. Pho Tastic will soft-open Nov. 20 at 4:30 p.m., giving frothy-mouthed passersby their long-awaited pho redemption.

The noodle and booze bar, brought to you by the folks at Pho Saigon, will be open Monday through Thursday till 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays till 2 a.m., serving up stir fries, curries, banh mis, chicken wings, hot pots, pho and vermicelli. I've said it once and I will say it a thousand times more — I would (and have) walk through a methadone clinic to eat a banh mi. Now, I only have to walk down Jefferson Street.

The prices are barely street legal, the booze plenty, the accommodations modern and the location prime. If the food is half as good as the business concept, Pho Tastic will win an election for sheriff.

Look out, belly, you're about to become a sack full of Vietnamese poboys.
