[UPDATE: Durel's "Lafayette Live!" program will continue on KPEL, with council members appearing as weekly guests.]

Joel Robideaux will follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Joey Durel, by appearing on the radio once a week for a live call-in program. Robideaux will be sworn in as mayor-president of Lafayette Parish Monday, Jan. 4.

Durel’s "Lafayette Live!" radio show (which never screened callers) aired on Townsquare Media’s KPEL 96.5 FM at 7:30 a.m. every Thursday. Robideaux, however, has signed on with Delta Media’s 103.7 FM, The Game, for a new show, “Sport of Politics,” which will air at 9 a.m. on Thursdays, according to a press release from the media group. Sport of Politics launches Jan. 7.

Robideaux will appear with morning show host Dave Schultz and other guests. “They’ll provide an insider’s play by play, and insight on the people, issues and events that are key to Lafayette Parish, Acadiana and Louisiana. They’ll also field live calls from listeners,” the press release notes.

The program will be rebroadcast on Delta Media’s KDCG Television every Friday at 7 a.m.

Lafayette Parish viewers can watch KDCG on LUS Fiber Channel 22 and Cox Channel 9. KDCG is also broadcast on Allen Cable TV Channel 8, Charter Channel 11 and Suddenlink Channel 10.
