Paul’s Jewelry will be under one roof come April as the family jeweler closes the doors on its Oil Center location and consolidates operations at the River Ranch store on Silverstone Road.

“Nancy, P.J. and I want to be one family under one roof with one great jewelry store,” says Patty Naomi.

The three Naomi siblings are the second generation of Paul’s owners after their parents — Theresa and Paul Naomi — founded the local fine jewelry store in 1954 in Downtown Lafayette before moving to the Oil Center. Eleven years ago the Naomis built a store in River Ranch on the corner of Camellia Boulevard and kept open the Oil Center store, a leased space.

“We kept it open for sentimental reasons, but you have to weigh whether it’s worth it, and it is time for us to all be together,” Naomi says.

The inventory will be consolidated to the River Ranch store along with the Naomi siblings plus P.J.’s son Jacob, who joined the family business in recent years. The two locations carry similar lines of jewelry.

Patty Naomi says the most difficult part of the move is the loss of three employees. “It’s a heart breaker that we can’t keep everybody,” she says.
