The Lafayette Police Department has released its crime statistics for 2015. The statistics reveal that there was an overall 2% decrease in total reported crimes within the City of Lafayette in 2015.
The statistics show several decreases in 2015 including a -32% decrease in Robbery, a -6% decreased in Assault, and a -15% decrease for Burglary.
Unfortunately, the statistics also include increases in Homicides, Forcible Rape and Theft. There were 20 cases of Homicide reported in 2015, which was up from 9 homicides reported in 2014. There were 19 cases of forcible rape reported in 2015, up from 10 in 2014. There was also a 2% increase in Theft in 2015.
