Donald Trexler named interim admin at Acadia General

New leader most recently was CEO at Cypress Point Surgical Hospital in Hammond.

Lafayette General Health has hired Donald D. Trexler as interim administrator at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.

The local health group says Trexler’s experience working with physicians was key to his appointment. In his most recent position as chief executive officer of Cypress Pointe Surgical Hospital in Hammond, he expanded the medical staff from 25 physicians to a 154-member active staff.

In a press release, LGH says Trexler exceeded revenue and budgeted surgeries in his first year on the job there, and experienced continued growth the following year. From 2012-2014, the hospital maintained patient satisfaction results above 97 percent nationally in every category, according to national survey firm Press Ganey Inc.

Trexler has extensive administrative, consulting and management experience from his various roles in health care, having also worked as a health care strategy consultant for TAP Group New Orleans, CEO of Southern California Orthopedic Institute, CEO of Bienville Orthopedic Specialists, and vice president of physician services and network development at Trover Clinic Foundation.

After earning his bachelor of science in health information management, Trexler earned master’s degrees in both health care administration and business administration at the University of Pittsburgh.
