Festival history on exhibit Saturday during ArtWalk

Festival International de Louisiane is a feast for all the senses including the eyes. Fans of Lafayette’s annual Francophone culture fête can witness three decades of FIL through the eyes of its official photographers during Saturday’s ArtWalk in Downtown Lafayette.

The 30th Anniversary Photographic Retrospective featuring the work of FIL’s many gifted photographers mounted on enlarged panels will be on display from 3:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday on West Vermilion Street in front of the Acadiana Center for the Arts. The block will be closed to traffic to allow ArtWalk patrons the space to enjoy this brilliant collection of color photography from Jeanne Louise Bulliard, Denny Culbert, Lucius Fontenot, Philip Gould, Brad Kemp, Daniel Lincoln and The Independent’s own Robin May.

The 30-year Retrospective will include photos from each year of Festival International de Louisiane. It will also be on display beginning Thursday, April 21 in front of the Central Fire Station across from Don’s Seafood on Vermilion Street. Gay Firefighter will have a great view!

The exhibition was coordinated by Phil Lank, one of FIL’s founders, and architect Allen Bacque; it was curated by UL photography professor Lynda Frese and her Advanced Photography students at the university.
