Affectionately known by so many as the Horse Farm, Lafayette Central Park will once again play host to one of the most exciting events this spring has to offer. Party in the Park will take place on Saturday, May 14, from 11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m., to celebrate the naming of the park as well as other major announcements pertaining to recent fundraising successes.

The public will also once again see the park’s Master Plan, which will preview what this world-class park will eventually look like, plus enjoy music, food, arts and crafts, and family-fun activities.

Party in the Park will open its gates at 10:45 a.m. with musical acts following at 11:30 a.m., which include performances from Sweet Cecilia, Brass Mimosa, Soul Express Brass Band, Lane Mack, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, Zydeco Radio, and Terry & the Zydeco Bad Boys. Park announcements will take place at 12:30 p.m., just in time for lunch.

“This fundraising festival will not only be an opportunity to highlight the tremendous financial support the park has received from individual donors, but also an opportunity for the general public to show its support by purchasing a ticket, buying a beverage the day of, or making an on-site donation,” says Chef Patrick Mould, who is organizing the fundraiser, in a release describing the overall mission of this event and the direction the park is heading. “It is going to take financial support from the entire community to make this park a reality that generations can enjoy for decades to come.”

Food, fun, and festivities for the whole family will include a variety of food and drink stations, food trucks, arts and crafts booths, as well as, special kid’s activities by the Children’s Museum of Acadiana. Patrons can pay to park on-site or ride their bikes.

“We are excited to share with the community the progress Lafayette Central Park is making in their park,” says LCP Executive Director Elizabeth “EB” Brooks. “Thanks to generous donors we will be able to break ground this fall and we cannot wait to share their names with everyone at Party in the Park.”

A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $100 and will include special perks such as VIP Parking, VIP Viewing Tent of the stage, catered food and beverages, and more. Proceeds from ticket sales will help support the community’s long-time dream of building a park at the Horse Farm.
