Three Lafayette stores have closed in the River Ranch area — Maxwell's Market, Mignon Faget and Knotting Hill.

Mignon Faget, the beloved New Orleans designer of upscale home goods and timeless jewelry, entered the Lafayette market in late 2012 with her fifth location — a 1,700-square store front in Parc Lafayette on the corner of Camellia Boulevard and Kaliste Saloom Road. The New Orleans stores, along with the manufacturing location for the brand and the Baton Rouge location, remain alive and well. Yet the Hub City location couldn't seem to catch traction.

Maxwell's Market on Kaliste Saloom Road, a grocery and eatery with a Baton Rouge headquarters, also didn't gain the base needed to stay open. The market offered both a deli and market experience as well as catering with offerings from wines and prepared kabobs to fresh produce and a daily lunch menu. Three Baton Rouge locations remain open.

In ladies' retail, Knotting Hill on Main Street in River Ranch offered a chic and simple collection of pieces for women from young professionals to trendy women in their late teens and early 20s before closing its doors. Opened more than five years ago by then Shoe La La owner, the store changed hands in 2012, when Emily Clark purchased it.

Representatives from all three stores could not be reached for comment.
