State Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, a New Orleans Democrat, was having none of it. Standing at the podium on the Senate floor Tuesday, she read an email from a Shreveport preacher questioning her faith after Peterson was instrumental in helping scuttle Bossier Republican state Rep. Mike Johnson’s discrimination-dressed-as-religious-liberty bill known as the Pastor Protection Bill.
Then she replied, at one point urging on her fellow lawmakers with, "Can I get an amen?!"
