UL Lafayette freshman pitching sensation Ashley Brignac put on a stellar performance in today's victory against No. 1 seed Florida, chalking up a career high 15 strikeouts. Thanks to a solo homerun by rightfielder Holly Tankersley (who yesterday was named a first-team NFCA All-American) in the top of the eighth, the unseeded Cajuns upset the Gators 3-2 in the opening game of the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma, City, Okla. The game was nationally televised on ESPN.

At 6 p.m. tomorrow, the Cajuns face the winner of today's 2 p.m. matchup between fifth-seeded Texas A&M and Virginia Tech. The game will be televised on ESPN2. View the complete schedule here.
