The Lafayette Parish Bar Association held a meeting Dec. 8 at the City Club. The meeting included a panel discussion with The Justice Planning Associates Inc. on the functionality and future of the 15th Judicial District's courthouse. The association's Community Service Committee has also partnered with the Lafayette Council on Aging to provide winter supplies to elderly homebound residents.
Le Centre International and Lafayette Economic Development Authority recently hosted 15 Swedish companies seeking partnerships with similar Louisiana businesses. The companies hope to work together to generate business in the areas of post-hurricane reconstruction work.
The Junior League of Lafayette awarded grants to several community organizations Dec. 13. The grants are funded from events and sales of the league's four cookbooks. The league also announced Adrienne Guidry as the winner of its Tinsel and Treasures Dodge Durango Raffle.

An awards ceremony was held at UL's Fletcher Hall to honor students from the Visual Arts Graphic Design Program who designed promotional materials for the 2007 celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Marquis de La Fayette's birth.
