Talk about an inspiring spring fling. Clients of the Lafayette Association for Retarded Citizens were treated to good food and a good time at the Acadian Village Pavilion on April 18. Bellies were full and so was the dance floor! LARC’s Ashley Bertrand told Party Girl they would like to thank Adrien’s, Kentwood Springs, Flowers Baking Co., Coca Cola Bottling Company, Acadiana Vending, Blue Bell, Cherokee Services, DJ William Davis and Mr. David Leger for making this event possible. By the afternoon everyone was really cutting loose and dancing.

In the past week Party Girl graced the guest list at several engagements, and among the diverse gatherings was 99.9 Kitty’s 12th Annual Secretaries Appreciation Banquet during Administrative Professionals Week. Ninety-nine lucky office professionals (I call them office queens) and their guests were treated to a fabulous evening of food, fun, entertainment, prizes and goodie bags. Winners and their guests dined on roast pork, fried catfish, scalloped potatoes, fresh veggies and delectable desserts at the Petroleum Club. The 2008 Secretaries Appreciation Banquet was sponsored by Lofton Staffing Services, Moss Motors, Shoe Fits and the Petroleum Club. JayCee, the KTDY 5 o’clock Traffic Jam host, was the master of ceremonies. The drive-time DJ kept the crowd entertained all evening and dazzled everyone by participating in the Cupid Shuffle. 99.9 KTDY morning show hosts CJ and Debbie Ray, midday host Steve Wiley, part-time host Shelley Lynne and special guest Bernadette Lee also entertained the crowd with games, trivia and great prizes. Party Girl was more than thrilled to see the businesses that contributed the wonderful prizes for the banquet — I got my hands on a few of them! Lofton Staffing Services, Cypress Bayou Casino & Shorty’s, A-Bryan’s Jewelers, C’est Jolie Gift Shop, Sharon Moss of Moss Motors, Paul’s Jewelry, Best Buy, Dillards, PASA, Leona Sue’s Florist & Gifts, Bath Junkie, Tiki Tubing, Lafayette’s Restaurant, Shoe Fits and Bella Beads all contributed. A good time was had by all, especially CJ and Debbie Ray.

Party Girl was able to say hello to her sistas at the Acadiana Alumnae Panhellenic Annual Sorority Informational Social where they invited high school seniors (class of ’08) from the Acadiana region to learn more about National Panhellenic Council Sororities and the recruitment process. Held at the UL Lafayette Alumni House, more than 100 ladies met with active sorority members and advisors from the five UL Lafayette sororities and the 10 LSU sororities. I am so glad I made this event; this crowd had more fashion glitter than Imelda Marcos’ shoe collection. It’s clear to see these ladies will be the most polished professionals in due time — you guys better watch out!
