Cooler temps and free concerts Downtown Friday

Cowboy Mouth

After a week off for Festivals Acadiens et Creoles, Downtown Alive! resumes its fall 2016 concert series with bombastic New Orleans rockers Cowboy Mouth at Parc International. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert runs from 6-8:30. Keep the ice chests, pets and political bickering at home and we’ll all have a good time, OK?

As a precursor to DTA!, Bach Lunch, also free, continues its fall ’16 run with perennial faves Les Freres Michot. The popular Cajun band will be joined by heirs to the chanky-chank: Louie and Andre Michot of Lost Bayou Ramblers. Bach Lunch is a fundraiser for the Lafayette Science Museum. Boxed lunches, at $6 apiece, will be provided by Chick-Fil-A, Deano’s Pizza and Zea’s Rotisserie & Grill. Soft drinks and water are a buck extra. Lunch sales begin on a first come-first served basis at 11:15.

Here’s the rest of the Downtown Alive! fall 2016 schedule:

Oct. 28 Cedryl Ballou & the Zydeco Trendsetters (Parc Sans Souci)

Nov. 4 Keith Frank & the Soileau Zydeco Band (Parc Sans Souci)

Nov. 23 Pine Leaf Boys (Parc Sans Souci); Holiday celebration and official lighting of the City Holiday Tree*

And Bach Lunch’s remaining schedule:

Oct. 28 Blayze and Saddles (Bailey’s Restaurant, Jefferson Street Pub, Roly Poly)

Nov. 4 Kevin Sekhani (Antoni’s Café, Poupart’s Bakery)

*Just kidding: It’s called the City CHRISTMAS Tree!
