For the past three decades, Leadership Lafayette has served as an excellent educational tool for those seeking a deeper understanding of all aspects of the local community, from politics to health care and law enforcement. The program stresses personal growth and volunteer service involvement, with many of its graduates going on to hold major leadership roles on the local, state and national level.
The Leadership Institute of Acadiana selects approximately 25 individuals annually to participate in the thought-provoking, 10-month training initiative, which in 2017 will run from January to October. Participants come from a cross section of occupations and socio-economic sectors in Acadiana. The program consists of a retreat, sessions, lectures, field trips and readings. Topics covered included community issues in the areas of education, health care, economic development, law enforcement, government, social services, art, culture and local history.
Leadership Lafayette counts among its more than 650 graduates many local CEOs, executive directors, elected officials, political candidates, TEDx presenters, and numerous community-minded and involved citizens.
The program is administered in partnership between the Leadership Institute of Acadiana and One Acadiana, along with Junior Leadership Lafayette and Intro Lafayette.
Applications are available here and are due on Oct. 31 by 5 p.m. For more information, e-mail LIAcadiana@gmail.com.
