3 make cut for UL System president

by Leslie Turk

The University of Louisiana System has narrowed the field of presidential candidates to three, all of whom currently work in the UL System. Either Southeastern Louisiana University President Randy Moffett, University of Monroe President Jim Cofer or UL System Executive Vice President Kim Hunter Reed will succeed Sally Clausen, who is taking over as state commissioner of higher education July 1. Clausen replaces T-Joe Savoie, who assumes the presidency at UL Lafayette later this summer.

Eliminated from consideration were NASA Center for Advanced Space Studies senior fellow Ronald White of Houston and Jo Ann Rooney, president of Spalding University in Louisville, Ky.

On June 25 the Board of Supervisors for the UL System is scheduled to interview the candidates and vote on the new president. To view the applications of the finalists, click here.
