Kudos to Superintendent Donald Aguillard, the school board and the hundreds of teachers and administrators in the Lafayette Parish School System. Aguillard announced Thursday that the LPSS jumped 7.1 points, from 89.2 to 96.3, to post an 8-spot jump into the Top 20 school districts in the state. Eighty-five percent of public schools in the district improved their scores over the previous year.
The 96.3 score means the LPSS remains a “B” district, but Aguillard told local media he believes we’re now within striking distance of achieving an “A” rating following two years of modest declines.
