Ouachita Parish is home to Duck Commander, the duck call manufacturing company behind the long-popular reality-TV series Duck Dynasty, whose hirsute executives were notable stump supporters of America’s Twitterer-in-chief during last year's election cycle. It’s also home to West Monroe High School, whose mascot is the Rebel, as in Confederate States of America rebel. The school’s marching band will be the only from Louisiana to participate in President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural parade in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20, according to The Times-Picayune.

The school is known for its fans’ preference for wearing and waving the Confederate battle flag at sporting events, though in fairness the school administration reached a compromise with the community in 2015 and forbade fans from flying the Confederate flag from poles, though they can still bring flags and other Confederate iconography into the stadium for games. Use of the N-word is optional.

The band was nominated for participation in the parade, according to Times-Pic, by U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, the Republican majority whip who reportedly once referred to himself as “David Duke without the baggage.”
