In surprise public appearance, LOGA’s Don Briggs talks ‘full recovery’

Trade association president acknowledges his recovery from September fall has gone better than most expected.

Louisiana Oil & Gas Association President Don Briggs, who recently returned home from a Houston facility to recover from a Sept. 30 fall in North Carolina, made a surprise appearance at a LOGA luncheon in Lafayette Monday.

The Daily Advertiser reports that Briggs told the audience he is going to recover “just fine” and thanked his membership and staff for keeping the trade association operating in his absence. His son, Gifford, has been acting president since his father's accident.

Outside the dining area, the paper reports, Briggs said his doctors now expect him to make a full recovery. He said he “wasn’t supposed to be doing any of the things I’m doing now.”
