The Lafayette Airport Commission Wednesday voted unanimously in favor of the proposed “Journey” design for the planned $90 million Lafayette Regional Airport terminal, according to The Advertiser, which reports the commission’s vote followed a presentation reporting that the public also preferred the “Journey” design. It was one of two proposed designs for the terminal, a third of which is being funded by a temporary tax levied in Lafayette Parish last year that raised roughly $32 million.
Citing public relations firm Sides & Associates, which conducted the public survey of design choices in which more than 5,100 people participated, “Journey” rated 4.18 on a five-point scale; its competitor, the “Spirit” design, rated 3.22. In a survey conducted two weeks ago at theind.com, IND readers also chose “Journey” by a roughly two-to-one margin.
