DTA! goes big — and boiled — for spring ’17 series

Five of the series’ seven concerts, which commence March 10, will be held at Parc International. Oh, and boiled crawfish.

Lost Bayou Ramblers

Downtown Alive! is swinging for the fence for its spring 2017 concert series, with an all-local lineup that features Grammy winners and nominees; five of the seven concerts this spring will be held at Parc International, and the concert series is introducing boiled crawfish by Downtown Lafayette’s newest seafood restaurant, Hook & Boil.

The series commences on March 10 with 2017 Grammy nominees Roddy Romero & The Hub City All Stars in Parc International. The next week, DTA! marks St. Patrick’s Day with a Patty in the Parc celebration featuring Better Than Ezra and Wayne Toups in Parc International. Tickets for this special event are $15. Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys

On March 24, Zydeco Radio takes the Parc International stage, followed the next week (March 31) by Feufollet at the more intimate Parc Sans Souci. The series returns to Parc International on April 7 with Lost Bayou Ramblers. DTA! takes a break on April 14 in observance of Good Friday. The next Friday, April 21, is pretty good, too: Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys at Parc International. The series turns over Downtown’s music stages to Festival International on April 28 before closing out the season at Parc Sans Souci on May 5 with roots-rockers The Rayo Brothers.

Downtown Alive! is a free concert series (except for the Patty in Parc event on March 17). Concession sales, which open at 5:30 — a half hour before the music cranks up — help keep it that way, so please don’t bring outside beverages. And no smoking. Or pets. And be nice. We’re all in this together.
