Council to consider support of LPSS tax prop

If approved the tax would generate about $194 million toward facility improvements and replace Prairie and Carencro Heights elementaries with new school facilities.

The City-Parish Council will vote Tuesday on a resolution in support of the Lafayette Parish School System’s proposed 10-year, .5-cent sales tax on the April 29 ballot. If approved the tax would generate about $194 million toward facility improvements — that includes getting students in the parish out of about 250 temporary classrooms and into permanent classrooms — and replace Prairie and Carencro Heights elementaries with new school facilities.
