The Lafayette Airport Commission has selected Valerie Garrett to serve as its 2017 chairwoman. Paul Guilbeau was appointed vice chairman, and John Hebert was chosen as secretary-treasurer.

Garrett, a local attorney, was appointed to the commission in October 2007 and served as chairwoman of the Airport Commission Legal Committee overseeing the DBE application process that affords minority owned businesses opportunities to become DBE-certified to participate in the airport’s projects on both the state and local level. As chairwoman for 2017, she leads the commission meetings, sets agendas for the meetings, serves as the commission spokeswoman and maintains signature authority for all commission actions. Guilbeau was appointed to the commission in September 2008 and Hebert in November 2013.

Broussard Poché has added an expanded component to its business valuation services, with Liz Moreau becoming a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional. Moreau also recently completed the American Society of Appraisers’ multi-disciplinary Advanced Education in Healthcare Valuation Program. Moreau is a partner in the certified public accounting firm. She has 23 years of public accounting experience.

Registered Nurse Ruth Guidry has been promoted to chief nursing officer at Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital. Guidry joined LSSH in 2004 and most recently was department manager of the patient care unit/housekeeping and dietary, a position now held by RN Christine Leger. Guidry is responsible for coordinating nursing functions at the executive level and oversees the day-to-day operations of the facility.

Leger, who joined LSSH in 2005 and has served as a charge nurse, is now responsible for the daily operations of assigned patient units. She maintains unit staffing and responds to personnel and process needs of the assigned unit. Additionally, she is responsible for the direction and oversight of the dietary department and environmental services. Also at the hospital, Michael Bertrand has come on board as the operating room manager. Bertrand, who has 13 years of experience in health care and management, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of assigned patient units. He maintains unit staffing and responds to personnel and process needs of the assigned unit.

Steven N. Domingue of Architects Southwest has recently fulfilled the requirements to receive his architectural license from the State of Louisiana Architectural Licensing Board. Domingue has more than 15 years of experience as a project manager and has been with ASW for 10 years. Domingue, as a LEED Certified Professional, will serve as project architect on special projects with specific focus on commercial and educational buildings, sustainable design and facility programming.

Meredith Johnson has joined Lafayettebased Firefly Digital as director of business development, responsible for leading Firefly’s new business development efforts and expanding the firm’s portfolio of clients. Firefly provides a full spectrum of digital marketing services, a crucial resource for businesses competing in today’s constantly evolving marketplace. Johnson most recently worked as an account executive at The Independent, a position that served as a springboard to her sales career. While at The IND, she managed more than 300 accounts in expansive industries across Acadiana. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree from UL Lafayette in cultural anthropology.
