UL Lafayette's fund-raising coordinator, John T. Landry won't be part of T-Joe Savoie's new administration. The 63-year-old, who led the "Investing in Our Future" centennial fund-raising campaign from 1996-2000 and exceeded the goal of increasing the university's gifted assets to $75 million, has retired to spend more time with his family and grandchildren, according to university officials.
Under Landry's leadership, the university's gifted assets -- primarily endowed professorships, endowed chairs and other assets gifted to the university -- have grown to more than $150 million. Landry joined the university in 1991 as development officer for major gifts and was named director of development in 1997.
Landry's retirement is official at the end of August, says UL spokeswoman Julie Dronet, but Thursday was his last day at the university, as he will use up accrued annual leave. His salary was $82,510, and Dronet says UL will begin advertising the opening in late August.
