The Oil Center Association is rolling out a brand new event called Pizza Palooza as a friendly competition among local participating pizza providers running now through Wednesday, May 10.
The weeks long competition will culminate with a block-party-style finale at and around the Palmetto Club in the Oil Center on Friday, May 12.
During the competition period, restaurants will feature and promote their original pizza creations for the community to “taste test” and vote, competing for the title of “People’s Choice: Best Pizza in Acadiana.”
Each vote requires a $1 voting fee. Voting will also take place at the finale event. The pizza with the most votes wins. Judging for Most Unique Pizza, Best Pizza Crust, and Best Pizza Sauce will take place at the finale event as well with winners being announced that evening and awarded signature Pizza Palooza trophies.
Participating restaurants include BJ’s Pizza, Bread & Circus Provisions, Carrabba's, DeanO's Pizza (both locations), Mellow Mushroom, Rochetto's Pizzeria, Romacelli (River Ranch location), and Rotolo's Pizzeria (all locations).
The finale event will feature all specialty pizzas by the eight participating restaurants, live music by the 337 Band, carnival games, a pie walk, face painting, a silent auction and more.
All proceeds from the competition will benefit the Oil Center Association.
