Eraste Landry extension opening Thursday

by Leslie Turk

Beginning Thursday, Eraste Landry Road will offer Lafayette travelers a direct access route to the city of Scott. A Lafayette Consolidated Government project, construction on the extension from Ambassador Caffery Parkway to La. Hwy. 93 (Westgate Road) in Scott began in February of last year.

The $8 million project, including $6 million in construction costs, consisted of less than a mile of roadway, along with construction of subsurface drainage facilities, concrete walks, street lighting, and a concrete box culvert. The city of Scott contributed $600,000 to the project. Merrick Construction Company is the contractor, and the roadway project was designed by PENSCO.

Scott Mayor Hazel Myers will join LCG officials for Thursday's 10:30 a.m. ribbon cutting at the intersection of Eraste Landry Road extension and Hwy. 93 in Scott.
