The newly-formed group Lafayette Citizens for Barack Obama is planning a meet-up this Sunday at Keith’s Ballroom from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Robert Guercio, a local downtown bar owner, and Mike Stagg, an IT consultant and Democratic party activist are organizing the event as a way for local supporters of the Democratic presidential nominee to connect. Obama campaign field organizer Dawn Collins will be in town for the meeting to help the group to sign up volunteers and organize future events. “This is what we hope will be the beginning of a movement in Lafayette,” Guercio says.
