Supriya Jindal speaking at a la carte today

by Leslie Turk

Louisiana's first lady, Supriya Jindal is the guest speaker at today's lunch meeting of the Acadiana Republican Women's Club. Jackie Glover, the organization's vice president, says Jindal will be greeted by a sea of red-clad women, as Glover has asked those attending to don the color of the Republican Party. "One hundred and fifty people made reservations, and people were still calling me Monday afternoon," Glover says.

The event begins with a meet-and-greet at 11:30 a.m. and runs until to 1 p.m. Singer Nancy Tabb Marcantel is the guest soloist.

Reservations are required to attend the club's buffet luncheons, held the third Tuesday of each month at a la carte in the Oil Center. Lunch is $15.

In September the organization will host state Treasurer John Kennedy, who is running against incumbent U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu; in October, Wendy Vitter, wife of U.S. Sen. David Vitter, is the guest speaker. Glover says the organization is holding its annual membership drive, which ends Aug. 31. For more information, contact Glover at 988-1280 or [email protected].

Additionally, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today, U.S. Sen. David Vitter will be at a la carte for an informal gathering with his local supporters.
