Museum director Mark Tullos visits with Mimi Prevost, Cherie Kraft and Gail Savoie

On Aug. 11, The Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum hosted its first Curator’s High Tea, a thank you party for museum benefactor members and Capital Campaign donors. University leadership from the Office of Development and Advancement were also in attendance, as was Gail Savoie, wife of UL Lafayette President Joe Savoie. The event promoted the mission of the museum and celebrated its recent achievements. University Art Museum patrons and donors gathered for a delightful afternoon, and guests left with a parting favor of exhibition catalogues for the upcoming fall season.

Now able to hang blue tarps across the exterior ceiling, Agave Cantina won’t ever allow bad weather to rain out one of its outside parties. Unwilling to take any chances with its one-year anniversary celebration a few weeks ago, the restaurant prepared for the worst by bringing in the stopgap measure. It wasn’t necessary for this event, however, as the sun shone all day, and the well-wishers packed the house. Party Girl stopped counting the people when the margaritas started flowing. Agave Cantina showcased its specialty dishes and margaritas for the VIP party. The exterior misters and fans have turned Agave into Lafayette’s hot spot for alfresco dining during the summer months. I ran into a couple of ultra-hip divas, Natalie Kingston and Becky Phares, who were out to show their support for the locally-owned eatery. After the fabulous feast and swank anniversary party, Party Girl headed downtown, where ladies’ night was just getting under way.
