Cartoon hooligans raised on rice and gravy

by Nathan Stubbs

Where can you find hooligans, cartoons, rice and gravy and desolation wilderness, all under one roof? Tonight they’ll all be featured at the Acadiana Center for Film and Media, located downtown on the corner of Lee and Main Street next door to Acadiana Open Channel. Billed as “a night of animation, film and rock music from around the country,” the event begins at 8 p.m. with Hooliganship, a multimedia dance duo who will be showing a collection of 3D animated shorts titled “Cartune Xprez .” Following Hooliganship is a screening of Raised on Rice and Gravy , a documentary on Lafayette soul food and plate lunch houses by Conni Castille and Allision Bohl of UL’s Cinematic Arts workshop. Lake, a band with “Turkish pschedlic” influences and Desolation Wilderness, a three-piece ambient pop ensemble, also will be performing. All ages are welcome.
