LSU-Alabama rivalry leaves two dead

A football rivalry erupted into violence in Alabama, leaving two LSU fans dead. After the Crimson Tide victory over the LSU Tigers Saturday night, Louisiana fans Dennis and Donna Smith of Conecuh County, Ala. were killed by Alabama supporter Michael Williams, according to the Mobile, Ala. Press Register. Following the game, an altercation that began over the phone erupted into a physical brawl, which ended when Dennis Smith pulled a pistol, Williams grabbed a shotgun and blasted Smith. Williams then shot Donna Smith. The Press Register reports that “alcohol was believed to be a factor in the killings.”
