Thank you for your careful reporting about the changes at the University Art Museum ("Artistic Differences," Dec. 27). One hopes the museum can hold many visions of the community simultaneously ' the university community and our local culture ' while speaking to a global audience. As a museum supporter and faculty member, I believe we could benefit in many ways from conducting a national search for a museum director ' a very complicated job indeed. The position listing could mention the need for someone who can act as curator, as fund-raiser and lead us toward accreditation.
