The downtown library is a mess and has been for a long time. The only paper that is ever up to date is The Advertiser. All the others are days, if not, weeks old. We have to hunt around the library just to find a whole paper, but it has a great VHS, DVD and CD section.
The homeless are using the library as a place to be in between meals served at St. Joseph's Diner, and there's the smell of body odor, cigarettes and alcohol. I bet none of them even have a library card. They even sleep there acting as though they are reading a book or newspaper. They mess up the papers and even panhandle in the library.
The library staff is great and security is fair, but the chairs are sunken in and are in need of reupholstering.
