Acadiana well represented in JazzFest lineup

Jazz Fest has just released its 2009 lineup . The  festival, which takes place over two weekends at the New Orleans Fair Grounds from April 24 through May 3, will be celebrating its 40th anniversary and is bringing in some big name healiners including Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Rait, the Dave Matthews Band, Wilco, Joe Cocker and Earth, Wind & Fire. As usual, the lineup is also full of Louisiana talent and Acadiana is well represented.

Area bands performing at the festival are: Buckwheat Zydeco’s 30th Anniversary featuring the Hitchhikers, Lil Buck Senegal Blues Band, D.L. Menard and the Louisiana Aces, Terrence Simien and the Zydeco Experience, Sonny Landreth, Jonno Frishberg and Bayou DeVille, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, Beausoliel avec Michael Doucet, Willis Prudhomme and Zydeco Express, Warren Storm, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Hadley Castille and the Sharecropper Band, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, Roddie Romero and the Hub City Allstars, Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band, Feufollet, Cedric Watson, Creole Zydeco Farmers, Wayne Toups and ZydeCajun, Savoy Music Center of Eunice Saturday Cajun Jam, Thomas “Big Hat” Fields and his foot stompin Zydeco Band, Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys, David Egan, Drew Landry Band, Bonsoir Catin, Corey Ledet, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters, Terry Mclain and T.K. Hulin.
