I am sorry to read of Mr. Hal Pommier’s bad experience with Catahoula’s on Pinhook Road (“IndBox: Catahoula’s Runaround ,” Feb. 3), but wish to point out that Catahoula’s in Grand Coteau has no relationship other than paying rent on the Grand Coteau location. On the contrary, when we entered this venture in October 2006, the Slaughters assured us that it was their desire to get out of the restaurant business for good. When they decided to re-enter the restaurant business, they assured us that Catahoula’s on Pinhook was to be primarily a steak house.

Unfortunately for us they have allowed (to our detriment) a confusing situation to exist. Most people have assumed that the two restaurants were joined and shared menus and staff. People who have eaten at both locations know that there is a difference. It is unfortunate that customers who have had a bad experience at Catahoula’s in Lafayette assume that things are no better in Grand Coteau. Chef Jude Tauzin has achieved regional and state wide awards and has an emerging national reputation, winning several culinary classics and being featured in Louisiana Cooking and Wine Spectator magazines.

I pledge to you, our valued customers, that Catahoula’s in Grand Coteau will not sell to you gift certificates that your friends and relatives cannot use. We will also work with the Slaughters to make your gift certificates from Catahoula’s on Pinhook good at the Grand Coteau restaurant but have been unable to do so as of this writing.
