It was with great sadness that I read your recent article about Herman Mhire's departure from the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum on the UL campus ("Museum Meltdown," Nov. 23).
There is no doubt that the collection presently on display at the museum is exquisite. It is still difficult, however, to understand how those in authority could allow the handling of such an event to cause Acadiana to lose a man with such vision, a man whose hard work has made it possible for all of us to share in that vision. We are truly losing a Lafayette treasure.
