Council candidates struggle with fund raising

by Nathan Stubbs

The candidates running in the District 6 city-parish council race are going to bank on waging efficient campaigns. The first campaign finance reports filed by the candidates show little in the way of fund raising. Frontrunner Sam Dore is the only candidate to have any success in the department; his campaign reports raising $1,500 for the period from Jan. 1 through Feb. 23. Dore had $2,366 in his campaign account at the close of the reporting period. Max Jordan reports no contributions. However, he has personally loaned his campaign $3,230 and had $1,140 left in his campaign account at the close of the reporting period. Joe Riley reported no activity on his campaign finance report.
