by Walter Pierce

In conjunction with Women’s History Month, the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Wetlands Research Center is set to open an art exhibit featuring the work of roughly 70 women artists. The exhibit, "Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet: Art Goes Green," comprises artwork in various media, from traditional painting to pieces incorporating recycled or renewable materials, according to Debbie Norling, the event’s organizer.

An opening reception will be held this evening from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday at the center, located at 700 Cajundome Blvd. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For details, call 266-8500.
