Opus Christi Magnum, the annual fundraising series that benefits the Lafayette Catholic Services in the Diocese of Lafayette, is still a bit new and many local philanthropists are just now learning about it, but its reputation is growing and for good reason. OCM was launched last year to replace the Bishop’s Charity Ball after a successful 25-year run, and it offers a refreshing change of pace that’s more in keeping with today’s busy social schedules. Party Girl loves the simple elegance of it: an evening hosted in L’Eveche, the former bishop’s residence adjacent to St. John’s Cathedral, which includes a brief ceremony in the cathedral to explain the critical work done by the charities that are part of the Lafayette Catholic Services group. L’Eveche is now home to Msgr. Keith DeRouen and other members of the clergy and offers a lovely and intimate setting befitting OCM’s mission. This year’s OCM chairman is Tyron Picard, and each month a different set of hosts invites friends and colleagues to contribute to the cause.  Already this spring, IberiaBank’s Beth Ardoin, Pat Trahan and Pete Yuan have served as hosts, as have Marvin and Sue Munchrath and Richard and Elaine Zuschlag. Often caterer Stacy Landry’s fabulous food is the centerpiece (of Lagneaux family fame so you know it’s got to be good), but Zea’s Leonard Louviere is graciously donating all the food and wine for the April 27 event, which is next on the calendar. Hosts that night will be Ed Hebert and Barry Berthelot of Chase Bank and local financial planner Dave Romagosa and his wife Mary.
