The Louisiana Board of Ethics has given Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson the green light to moonlight as a driving instructor, with some exceptions.
Gibson sought an opinion from the board on whether a defensive-driving company he’s considering forming could be on a list of similar companies approved by the Crowley City Court and other courts in Acadia Parish for traffic defendants ordered to take such classes. In a letter sent to Gibson last week by the board, the chief was told he can form the company and it can do business with jurisdictions in Acadia Parish, but it cannot be on an approved list with the City of Crowley or for people residing in the city limits of Crowley, since the Crowley PD would be “responsible for arresting offenders who violate the terms of their probation within the City.”
